Biography:

A background in communications and web development in the public sector, I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to get involved with Bristol's e-democracy programme in early 2004 when Bristol took on a role within the UK's Local eDemocracy National Project.

During the last year I set up online democracy tools - specifically e-petitions and an e-panel (using online discussions, surveys and deliberative tools) and I am now looking at how to improve our citizen and community engagement, drawing on lessons learned through a series of research projects that evaluated the positives and negatives of a range of e-democracy activities carried out around the country, commissioned by Bristol for the national project.

What's a recent movie you've seen and enjoyed and why?

It was a while ago that I saw it but I loved the Motorcycle Diaries. As a keen traveller, I thought the scenery was fantastic and the characters' love of life, sense of adventure and charm made this a joy to watch.

Pick a favorite technology and explain how it makes the world a better place?

Probably my MP3 player - can't bear to be without music and this allows me to carry all my music collection - just need to find time to transfer it all over!

2-3 questions or issues that you hope we'll address at the "Deepening Online Deliberation" meeting?

I'm hoping to learn from other people's experience to build more of a sense of community and inspire participants to engage more actively with our different initiatives. I also hope to build future working relationships.
